Choir in the Community

The choir have sung in the community several times.

They sang at the New Grange Care Home. The children in the choir have become 'Dementia Friendly.' They understand that music can trigger emotion and that people living with dementia can sometimes act in unexpected ways. Ultimately, they understand that the power of music and hearing singing can make a difference - and this they really did. When we arrived, many people were sat in chairs but once they heard us singing, many were up on their feet and dancing.

We've also sung at the hospital. Ms Cossins contacted the hospital charity a few months back because this is a favourite venue to sing at as many doctors and nurses - and patients - make their way down the stairs to listen to us and dance. The favourite - of course, Ozzy Osbourne. We had to sing crazy Train twice! The children wanted to sing at the hospital because, as they said, they want to make people smile; they want to brighten someone's day and that singing can make you feel better.

And many of you would have heard a small, but enthusiastic bunch singing at the Summer Fair. Well done, for some of our past students who came forward and wanted to sing in the performance area. Totally unplanned and totally amazing. We even had one of our former students performing on the Audio Active Stage at Homefield's Music Festival this weekend. Truly inspiring - and a proud Music Teacher moment!
