Year 5 have been inspired by abstract music and likening this to abstract art and abstract artists such as Kandinsky. Here we are interpreting signs and symbols and turning these into music and sounds - is that squiggle a melody on the keyboard? Is that spiral a clash of the cymbals? 

The children were given a graphic score entitled The Factory and asked to interpret this and create some music working in small groups. This involved some conversation and decision making - and of course, lots of instruments and fun.
